Mary J. Blige has finally addressed the controversial Burger King ad which featured the revered singer belting out an ode to the Crispy Chicken Snack Wrap, claiming she had never approved the “unfinished” ad to air.
“I agreed to be a part of a fun and creative campaign that was supposed to feature a dream sequence,” Blige told TMZ, in a statement. “Unfortunately, that’s not what was happening in that clip.”
The ad has been removed from YouTube, so you’ll have to search hard to see it.
“I understand my fans being upset by what they saw,” Blige continued. “But, if you’re a Mary fan, you have to know I would never allow an unfinished spot like the one you saw go out.”
Burger King offered their apologies to Mary for releasing the ad “before all of the licensing and final approvals were obtained … We would like to apologize to Mary J. and all of her fans for airing an ad that was not final.”
The final ad will air soon.
